"This is a hilarious sci-fi classic. Adams is a brilliantly witty storyteller with a knack for poking fun at humanity. Just remember, when traveling, always bring your towel!" - Erin K.

So readable, so delightful, so rich in paradigm shifts: this has developed into a contemporary classic for a reason. And the illustrations in this particular edition add even more to the reading experience.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams is a renowned work of science fiction that humorously blends absurdity, wit, and social commentary. The story follows the unwitting Arthur Dent, plucked from Earth moments before its…

I throughly enjoyed the book when I read it for book club; The nonsensical humor pulls the book together. I have read several others in the series and look forward to watching the movie. Also the irony was spectacular.

I loved the movie so when I read the book I wish I had read it before because it was amazing!

Being a longtime fan of the movie adaptation of this novel, I was overdue to finally read the book. Read it and wished I had gotten to it sooner. This book is hysterical! In the beginning, I had to reread several passages I had just read…

I loved this book. Such an easy read and you never know what to expect, in the best possible way.

Hilarious and wonderous read. I giggled throughout and couldn't put it down. So British and smart and witty. The jokes creep out of the tall grass and explode into your heart like nuclear bombs of happiness. You'd be a simpleton, dunce-cap…

Great book! I couldn't recommend it more! However, this edition (with illustrations by Chris Riddell) of the ebook has - I don't know what you'd call them - editing mistakes? e-glitches? - for the first, maybe five, chapters. And the same…

"In the sci-fi realm lies a comedy gem: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. On a seemingly inconspicuous Thursday, a most improbable event happens: a Vogon Constructor Fleet comes to demolish the Earth to make way for a…

What began as a radio drama, THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY has exploded into a sci-fi literary phenomenon. Under fantast Douglas Adams' direction, Doctor Who has a worthy challenger to his time-jumping talent in Arthur Dent.

The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy may not be a book for everyone, but if you like science fiction and randomness you should definitely give it a read. This book is the first in a series by Douglas Adams and so when you get to the end of…

This book is a classic and I understand why it was such a game-changer in the 70's, but I think all the hype made me expect a little too much from it. It's very well-written and witty, but I really couldn't get invested in the characters…

This science fiction classic by Douglas Adams started its life as a radio drama on BBC Radio 4 in 1978. The novel is fast paced, sarcastic, and droll with the humor one might expect from 1970's British comedy. Despite the humor elements,…

“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.” Another great reread of Douglas Adams' The…

I wasn't as impressed with this book as I thought I would be based on so many previous rave reviews but I can see how this book would have been a smash hit way back in 1979. It seems to have been a blueprint for many movies, tv shows, and…

In this, the first book of the Hitchhiker's series, Arthur Dent wakes to find a bulldozer poised to knock his house down. Not that it matters, because Earth is about to be destroyed by undetected aliens somewhere high above the atmosphere.…

I didn't love it. Perhaps this is one of the stories you have to be in the right mood for. It's an irreverent, goofy, spoofy romp through the galaxy with a host of off-the-wall characters.

Nonsensical, whimsical, and full of absurdity. Douglas Adams has a childlike sense of wonder and creativity in the way that he wrote that was like no other.

I'm not sure what to say to you that could prepare you for this cult classic. This is a philosophical science fiction novel of fine distinctions: a lot of the humor depends on double meanings and misunderstandings. The unbelievable…

One of my absolute favorites. Adam's dry humor and wit are timeless making this a read appropriate for all occasions.

I loved the absurdities in this book. I listened to the audiobook and it was read by Stephen Fry, excellent choice. I thought the plot was lacking. If it had been filled with only absurdities, I probably would have enjoyed it more but the…
