Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses. Ann…

Lame. That is the most kind thing I can say about this movie. I am a fan of Seymour Hoffman but this thing is way below his talents even if he is the director. It was so slogging slow I did not finish watching it.

In this film we see a new love being launched alongside one going under. A wonderful film with excellent performances by all, but especially by Philip Seymour Hoffman. The story has depth, insight into the nature of relationships, so if…

I wonder if it's a good idea to make movies from the scripts of plays. That being said, this was an interesting watch. The acting is good and the dinner scene was devastating. The characters are unlike any people I know, but sure, there…

Well-acted, slow paced romantic comedy. Not very funny to me. Definitely tries to be weird. Succeeds in being different, but not interesting enough to entertain me. I did watch the whole movie and was interested in how it turned out. Not…

Two couples' relationships are the subject of this slow moving character study. Clyde and Lucy have been together for several years but have trust issues. They fix up the other main characters, Jack and Connie, who are both unfamiliar with…

Hats off to Philip Seymour Hoffman! Not only is his directorial debut a warm, funny, brilliantly acted, gorgeously written romance, it’s also the most adept depiction of the internal lives of people I’ve seen on screen. It’s a simple…

This was one of the best films that I have seen this year.Phillip Seymour Hoffman directs himself in this film that somewhat reminds me of Marty. His performance is brilliant at the same time being suttle enough to not overdue it either.

Also known as, middle class people in New York. I expected a lot more from this movie. PSH gives a good performance but the script isn't anything we haven't seen before. The main characters all have problems, PSH is single, his friends are…

Phillip Seymour Hoffman is very good in this move. He is such a good actor. It is a quirky low key, artsy type movie without all the hollywood hoopla. I liked it.

I liked this movie. Music is very good, directing is very good, acting is very good. New York city is nicely used as an important and visually beautiful part of the story. Yes, it is slow, and yes, characters are a bit odd and quirky, but…

I felt compelled to write my first ever review after suffering through this disaster. I cannot recommend anyone else sit through Jack Goes Boating. The actual direction and soundtrack are decent, but the soporific plotline and…

Skip It - Jack Goes Boating (2010) 89 min. Philip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut fails miserably; not for his directing abilities but for the script in general. The film is as interesting as watching a person reading a newspaper on…
