Great little novella. I've just now discovered this series in 2024 and there are 7 books out. This first installment is a fast paced origin story that's leaves infinite potential for expansion. Can't wait to check out the rest.

I have heard that people love "Murderbot", but I thought it was hype. I am now a believer! That person is delightful! And an excellent opportunity for us all to work on our non-binary pronouns!

In this fun science fiction novella, a snarky security robot who calls itself Murderbot is tasked with protecting a team of scientists on a remote planet, but this robot would much rather just lounge around streaming old TV shows. The plot…

1st book in the Murderbot series
Dec 05, 2023
The writing style of the book and the series comes off as fun and fluffy, but it actually picks up on quite a few deep topics like theory of mind, transhumanism, and late stage capitalism corporate over reach. I recommend this series to…

This was a quick and entertaining read. An "AI coming to terms with its own existence" tale. This reminded me of Scalzi's books. If you love him you're gonna like this series.

There was a time when it was all about vampires. And then it was all about zombies. I've been waiting and waiting for evil robots to have their day in the sun. And finally....I discover a book series about evil robots! And to make it even…

This novel definitely ranks among the classic school of science fiction. It rivets your attention and moves fast with a plot that does not fail to hold your attention. Martha Wells is an author that definitely should deserve further…

Quite an enjoyable novella and the first 4 books make an entertaining arch. The irreverent tone of the main character makes the book one with more depth than a typical sci fi action. Beyond that, Wells constructs an interesting world…

Excellent start to an excellent series. The titular Murderbot - actually a synthetic security unit - hacks its own governor module so it can stream sappy human dramas. Side effects include introspection, anxiety and body image issues.

I. LOVE. MURDERBOT. Kevin R. Free narrates this perfectly. Can't wait for the newest one to come out!!

Super fun start to a promising series! I love just being dropped in the middle of something and left to slowly figure out how the world works.

This science fiction book read like a mystery to me, which was a pleasant surprise. I was immediately immersed in this world so I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Recommended.

Great Sci Fi read. The writing is quick and witty, and the main character, Murderbot, gives great commentary throughout. The book really moves. Can easily read over a long day at the pool or a quiet weekend. Looking forward to reading the…

This is my second time reading All Systems Red. It remains a perfect capture of what I'm looking for in science fiction: fast-paced, character driven, free from the artificial restrictions that sometimes bog down fantasy. Also, Murderbot…

This was such a fun read! I love Murderbot's personality--and related to them maybe a little too much at some points. There was some great action, great characters, and all my favorite sci-fi stuff (including some simple but well-defined…

Murderbot hacked its governing model for REASONS and all it really just wants to do is stream TV, especially episode 397 of "Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon." But those pesky humans it is supposed to protect keep stumbling into trouble and…

Hilarious introduction to the extremely introverted and awkward Murderbot, a rogue security unit. If only the humans would not look at them, or worse, talk to them, and just stop trying to get themselves killed!

A fun, exciting read. A novelette.

It certainly wasn't as unusual as I expected: the story is told from the point of view of a guard robot which is very anthropomorphized; most of this short book is strongly plot driven, and the language level is suited to one in their…
