Is this book young adult appropriate?

Apr 21, 2017

This is an exciting true account of 19 year old Anne Hobbs taking a job as a teacher for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Chicken, Alaska. Her story is one of true bravery and destiny and absolute hardship as she confronts the radical weather and the disheartening prejudice toward the native Alaskan's and Eskimo's. I was glued to the pages at every single turn of events and encounters with wilderness, the unconventionality of the locals, the extreme cold, treacherous 60- below- cold and true love.
If you like adventure, justice, romance, sense of place, good pacing, an unlikely heroine, this is a read that will not disappoint!
I first read this book in the late 70's and recently reread it and it is still one of my favorite books of all time.
I would consider this book young adult appropriate. There is some swearing but considered tame by today's standards.
