Autobiographical account of an Australian novelist's return to Ireland to explore his cultural heritage. While searching for relics of the 19th century, Koch highlights modern Ireland's growth into an economically successful nation as well as ongoing religious conflicts in the North. This is a non-fiction companion to his novel, 'Out of Ireland', winner of the 2000 Victorian Premier's Literary Award. Koch's other works include, 'The Double Man' and 'Highways to a War', both winners of the Miles Franklin Award, and 'The Year of Living Dangerously', which won the 1978 'Age' Book of the Year, the 1979 National Book Council Award and was made into award-winning film by Peter Weir.
