My very favorite children's book of all time, a perennial classic that I still read to this day. It is a story that never grows old and fits the true definition of a classic - it stands the test of time. Out of all of the Oz books, the first is still my favorite, but all are a must read.

When a horrible cyclone rips through her farm, Dorothy awakes to find herself in the amazing Land of Oz. While there, she is befriended by a scarecrow, a tin man, and a cowardly lion. Together they travel to the Emerald City in search of a wizard who can help Dorothy return home to Kansas. Ages 6-12.

Not as enjoyable a read as it was the first time I read it when I was much younger. Still, a very enjoyable book, and definitely something that all kids should be exposed to.

What a great story. I've always been a fan of the movie, but just recently read the book. The best word I have to describe the story is magical.
