Add a CommentSo so CUTE! Seriously underrated among Lois Lowry's work, Gossamer is a sweet, gently paced story about a little dream-giver learning to bestow dreams, and trying to help a little boy and the old woman who is fostering him. Though, like most of Lowry's work, it deals with some serious and difficult issues, the tone of the book is gentle and focused on healing, and the messy, yet earnest way humans learn to care for each other.

Super super adorable!

This is a magical book. I can't understand why it hasn't gotten more attention.
A beautifully written book. I enjoyed it, my daughter too. Recommended for all ages.
Gossamer begins as a story about Dream-givers, sprite-like beings who try to give humans pleasant dreams. The story then follows an old woman who takes in a foster child named John. There is also a dream-giver watching over John's mother, who is desperately trying to get John back. The story is about a dream-giver named Littlest trying to grow up and learn how to do her job, as well as about John who is growing up and overcoming his troubled childhood.
This book is very good, I really recommend it. But it's a book for readers who have a liking to books that are not as action packed as others. Littlest is the main character and is the curios and sometimes irresponsible type.
I really liked this book. You really feel for John and Littlest One. Littlest One is so cute, and I love that she is always sucking her thumb and trying to hide it. My little sister does that a lot.
I really liked this story! It was magical really.
One of the greatest books of all time. The magical world was perfect, and the characters weren't larger than life, but characters that you could actually relate to. I loved the Littlest One, she reminds me of my younger sibling. Lois Lowry has created a classic!
very good book
Loved this book! Beautifully written and masterfully constructed, Gossamer approaches questions with a thoughtfulness only Lewis Lowry can, and leaves you with the feeling of awakening from a dream.
