Larry Jackson, an ambitious young police officer on holiday in Spain, recognizes an escaped master criminal, Eddie Myers, who had been presumed dead. Living as Philip von Joel, the handsome, wealthy and charismatic Myers is extradited to London. He agrees to co-operate with the police on the condition that Jackson be his interrogator. So begins a deadly duel of wits between a brillant perceptive criminal and his determined adversary.
