This is a 1995 American television film that aired on NBC.
Colonel Margarethe Cammermeyer has served in the army for over twenty years.
Although she's just fallen in love with an artist she's met, the film doesn't elaborate on that.
I don't really understand how come she falls for the artist.
The director probably says that this is not the point. :-)
In any case, she has a job at the VA hospital, as well as in the reserves.
She decides to upgrade her security rating, with an eye toward promotion, and during the interview, she tells the investigator that she is a lesbian.
The army begins proceedings to discharge her.
With the support of her family and her lover, however, she decides to fight for her right to serve.
I admire her courage.
It is a profoundly thought-provoking film.

A very well done film about local celebrity, Col. Cammermyer. Great acting, good story, for all age groups.
