I loved how real all the characters seemed. The author infused the story line with emotion, humor and conviction. This book is a must read for anyone who has ever faced a crisis of conviction verse desire.

It was so wonderful. I loved the different perspectives and the mutual/open ending. I liked how the character actually learned from their mistake. This story was realistic and very relatable in the sense of identity, love, relationships, family, school, adolescence. In the end, this book promoted greatly staying true to ones values and not giving in to ones contradictions while using a real and relatable setting.

"Fifteen-year-old Jesse is an out lesbian and a political radical who wears "big, galumphy" fishing boots to feel solidly planted when she walks... but the secret relationship she has with Emily, a perky, popular girl who's officially dating a football star, makes her feel confused and adrift. Emotionally intense, often startlingly funny, and "powerfully raw" (Kirkus Reviews), this bittersweet love story is also a story about friendship and figuring out - and standing up for - what you really believe in. Fans of the intelligent yet empathetic writing, snarky yet vulnerable humour, searing emotions, and fully human characters in The Difference Between You and Me will want to seek out the author's earlier book, Looks." Highlights the shining idealism and depth of passion that we feel as teens, before time and experience teach us to guard our hearts more closely. It is good to be reminded of this, and it's one of the reasons that adults like me enjoy reading YA novels.
