The secret of the blue trunk by Lise Dion
After the death of her mother, Armande, Lise finally discovers what was in the blue trunk her mother had always been so guarded about . Lise is astonished to find that her mother Armande was detained in a prison of war camp during WWII ,in France, and that her mother had been a nun. She also finds her mother's journals. These tell of her mother's life from childhood as well as in the camp. I found this a very enlightening account of camp life for those that were put into camps by Germans because they were Canadian, or some other ally of Britain, and were forced to work for the German War effort. It is a difficult subject but I found the journals made it more personal and easy to read.

Such an interesting story! And it's true! I found it hard to put down because I wanted to know what happened next.

Terrific story badly and dully told. If it's better in the original French, it's a shame they got such a crashing bore to translate it.
