Canada's foremost hockey storyteller goes in search of his boyhood idol, the famously reclusive former captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dave Keon. Told in two narratives - one from the point of view of the young Bidini growing up in Toronto in the early 70s and one from the perspective of the man looking for his absent hero - "Keon and Me" tells not only the story of a hockey icon who has haunted Toronto for decades, but a life lived in parallel to Keon's.

For the parts I didn't skim over, I gave up on the book less than halfway through. Final chapter is ok.

enjoyed the book, however authors reference to Whitby as a drab suburban community with newer strip malls make me think how people of downtown Toronto thought of Etobicoke

A well written blend of the hero worship of a Canadian boy from the '70s reconciled with the nostolgia of a middle aged man, held up against the last glory days of a hockey team in the throes of moving from icon to chronic failure. Makes me want to read his other hockey books.
