Mme. Proust and the Kosher Kitchen

DAISY - 2013
Rate this:
In turn-of-the-century Paris, Jeanne Proust, a cultivated Jewish woman married to a Catholic doctor, writes in her diaries of global events and of her family, including her son Marcel. The diary entries are often interrupted by their translator, Marie Prevost, who is obsessed with them and with the enigmatic Max. The third strand of the story involves Sarah Bensimon, a young Parisian refugee sent to Canada to escape the Nazis, who eventually settles into an uneasy life, taking refuge in her kitchen and trying to heal the wounds of history.
