This movie is about a robot that fights criminals and attempts to prevent crime, which is why he has “cop” in his name. In the future, there is a lot of crime in the city of Detroit and they need to stop it. They turn to a technological solution to assist them in their endeavors to reduce crime. The solution is the cyborg RoboCop. The robot was built from a deceased police officer named Alex Murphy, who was killed by a group of criminals led by a criminal named Clarence Boddicker. Once he is turned into a robot, he regains some memories of when he was still a living human and realizes he must go after Clarence. Overall, it was a great classic action film.

Good remake, but the original 1987 original is better. Enjoyable movie.

This movie is a miracle. It takes one of the most characterless main heroes of 80s movies, and actively makes him have less character. It is also boring beyond belief. Think about every action movie you've seen last week and you'll basically get whatever this movie turned out to be. Watch only if it's the last movie in the world you haven't seen.

Meh. Some like it a little more, some a little less. I prefer the Vorhoven [sp?] version but i guess the bottom line is that this one is a crank turner, basically a scene-by-scene remake, squeezing the last few bucks out of the franchise.

Actually I thought this movie was better than the original. A good story but the action scenes are video games.

Initially I was all set to rate this $100 million production from 2014 with 3 stars (which I thought, at first, was an OK reboot of the $13 million original from 1987).

But that was before character, Pat Novak, the black, TV-news mouthpiece came on screen (just prior to the film's final credits) and made his pigheaded, little, American, flag-waving speech.

With the demented passion of a total fanatic, Novak excitedly exclaimed that (and I quote) "America is, and always will be, the greatest country on the face of this Earth!" (end of quote)

Of course, Novak had nothing to back up this blindly arrogant statement with facts, but once those words came out of his candy-ass mouth, that was enough for me to reduce my rating of this truly forgettable piece of Yankee propaganda-junk to just 1 star.

I don't know about you, but, I, for one, not being American, do not appreciate having the likes of those bullying, hypocritical imperialists, who reside below our border, rubbing their conceited, ego-centric attitudes into my face in this manner.

As far as I'm concerned - If the snot-nosed producers of this so-so action film want me to believe such a high'n'mighty statement as the one made above, then they're certainly gonna have to start proving it to me through their actions and through the calibre of the movies that they relentlessly churn out like fodder for the brain-dead.

Imaginative version of the RoboCop franchise when a near fatally wounded cop was robotized and had to overcome department corruption, an evil corporation and a powerful arms dealer to save the city, his family and himself.

This is is awful ! ...when I got this NYPL disc home and put this movie in the DVD player...it says: "NOT FORMATTED FOR THIS REGION" !!?? ( And it says "Region #1", on the DVD jacket !!?) I have watched a thousand other New York Public Library DVDs on my Panasonic Region 1 DVD Player,.. but this one makes it almost TWO DOZEN that have come up as "NOT FORMATTED..." etc. !

I really wanted to see this one. And I had to wait for it.

WHY is the New York Public Library buying DVD's that are "NOT FORMATTED.." to be viewed in this region ?

Has this ever happened to anyone else out there ??

"ALEX, ALEX, ALEX, ALEX!" This might not be like the original 80's Robocop film, but still a damn good movie.

a solid enough remake, just not as fun as the original.

Raymond: What is bigger than a hero?
Rick: Dead hero.
========
Raymond: I know, but it's a man inside a machine.
Dennett: No, that's a man inside a machine right there!
==========
Chief Karen: We have a problem. Alex is breaking protocol.
Liz: What's he doing?
Chief Karen: He's off solving his own murder.
Tom: That is genius. Why didn't I think of that?
