Even though the series is very violent and bloody and the actors will never win an Oscar for their performance, I still enjoyed the story and the soap opera aspect of it. Recommended.

As good as season one. I couldn't stray from the series for very long, had to see what happened next!

Now that the third season of VIKINGS has begun it is a good time to mention what an amazing series it is. VIKINGS is a History Channel drama by the guy, Michael Hirst, who did TUDORS (which I really liked except for the final season which I thought was unwatchable). It is set during the time of the first Northmen raids on England 800-900 AD. Season one had a human sacrifice episode that was spectacular and season two had an episode devoted to the "blood eagle," a torture/trial by ordeal ritual where a man's rib cage is hacked apart from the back and his lungs yanked out and draped over his shoulders, creating the visual of a bloody eagle. If the man keeps it together without shrieking in agony he gets to go to Valhalla. What is special about the series is it puts you in touch with a time when gods were still alive and very close.

Good show but if never seen the first season some may not like the different forms of racism against men and women This one does skip to a few years later by the 3rd episode since the son does get older. Only 3 discs in total to season 2.
