“The world went on revolving around its sun at the constant speed and with the inconstant temper it always had.”

Add a CommentI absolutely loved this book. Cunningly written! I've actually had the pleasure of meeting this particular King a couple of times and truly believe he would be as good natured and funny as he is in the book!
I read it and liked it but oddly enough I don't recall much about it.
Amazing! One of the best books I have ever read. : D
Reminds me of Carl Hiaasen, but a little more subdued.
Loved the book - clever, funny and often surreal. I appreciate the author expressing his opinion, vision and take on certain political figures, personalities and countries. Some of those thoughts are contrary to public opinion but that what makes this book so interesting.
The very last part could be a bit shorter, but as a reader you choose what and how you read, so I just skipped some parts. Otherwise, an excellent read.
Good, but 100 pages too long.
I picked up this book on my vacation in
France to pass time on the train. However, the constant storyline kept my interests and I ended up engulfing the entire story on my trip. It tells a capturing tale of characters around the world that met in a twirl of fate. The story of the main character from her early years to adulthood and all of her experiences is truly exquisite. The clever humor and informational aspect of the novel also entertains the reader. From a story of a South-African girl, I learned about political history. The international awareness this book gives to the reader is overbearing. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in political affairs and anyone who does not. This book is a great read and deserves a place in your minds.
By the same authour as 100 Year-old-man-who-climbed-out-a-window-and-ran-away. I enjoyed the 100 Year-old-man…. As it placed the one character at many of the major cross-roads of the past century. The contrivances were amusing and the authour made it seem almost possible. This book was too much like the first book. Not fresh.
This was a fantastic book, I loved it!
Convoluted and funny and fascinating! Very cleverly done.
