I read this as a youngster and now will read it to my son. It is an uplifting story about difference and also commonalities. We all want to be feel included and valued. My Mom was a nurse at a home for the mentally ill and we kids visited her there and so were already sensitive to the needs of the disabled and this made me only more so.
