In 2013, there were 2.2 billion children in the world. One billion of them lived in poverty. It would cost around US $40 billion to provide all people in the developing world with education, clean water, reproductive health, and basic health and nutrition. According to Statistics Canada, in 2011, the wealthiest 1% of Canadians earned 10 times more money than the average Canadian. This means they they made an average of $381,300 each compared to the average Canadian income of $38,700.
