Although a year has passed, not a day goes by without Meggie thinking of INKHEART, the book whose characters became real. But for Dustfinger, the fire-eater brought into being from words, the need to return to the tale has become desperate. When he finds a crooked storyteller with the ability to read him back, Dustfinger leaves behind his young apprentice Farid and plunges into the medieval world of his past. Distraught, Farid goes in search of Meggie, and before long, both are caught inside the book, too. But the story is threatening to evolve in ways neither of them could ever have imagined.

Interesting story… One MASSIVE plot flaw, though—Fenoglio couldn't have based the Bluejay off of Mo because he didn't know Mo when he wrote Inkheart! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! (I hate plot flaws.)
Anyhow, believable characters, entertaining yet very, very detailed and complex.

This book is a long but good book to read over a vacation. My friend found this book had too much detail but I loved it. This book is the second book in the series and I would say that this book is not worth reading if you don't read the first book (inkheart) and as the ending is minor cliff hanger you should read the last book in the series (inkdeath). The book is full of emotion and I have felt many emotions over reading this book, even though I have not cried during this reading the book. I would recommend this book to any one with lots of time on their hands and love detailed books.

I didn't read it. Ran out of time and there are too many other books I'd rather spend my free time reading.

My 11-year old daughter read this and loved it! It was the longest book she had ever read I think.

I actually didn't note that there was a second book, or a third one for that matter, until a while after I read the first. I am pretty sure there is a movie for the first one because I vaguely remember watching it, but it wasn't as good as the first book. The same can be said for this second book, which may have been interesting at parts but lacked a certain appeal to it. I kind of drifted off of it at times, but I guess overall it wasn't a Complete bore. Meg's person was simply too simplistic for me to imagine.

I love this trilogy so much! Funke's words lead you to another world and has a unique storyline.

I liked this book but Inkheart is better than Inkspell. Not as interesting.

This is the second book in the trilogy Inkheart. In my opinion the first book is the best but this one and Inkdeath (the third book) are great too.

Meggie has trapped herself in the book "Inkheart", and is not sure if she will be able to get out. Was the prospect of seeing the Inkworld really that great a risk?

Stories never really end, Meggie, even if the books like to pretend they do. Stories always go on. They don't end on the last page, any more than they begin on the first page.
