This is so much better than the Sopranos. At this time I'm waiting to get Season 3. This is well acted out. Virtually no Westerner could really believe such a person could exist, except Hitler. The fact was that he was even more violent than is showcased in the movie. The bombings and killings were on an extraordinary scale and there were no rules. He terrified all the other Cartel leaders. Yet, he looked like an ordinary fellow you might trust on the street. This series gives us an insight into his character and his life. His Sicarios would do anything for him. The one thing he could never do was see himself in anything but the light of a Robin Hood, that was his true Achilles Heel. He could justify the killings because the government was out to get him and he became very paranoid about traitors in his ranks. The depiction of the government and its political correctness is without question. The fears of many within the government, military and security were justified. This is one of the best series I have watched. Few other match the ferocity and the twists are very interesting. Enjoy! By the way if you have trouble following the subtitles onscreen .... use the pause button to read them. I had no trouble at all. You could also take a Spanish language course and ignore the onscreen subtitles. Watched the last instalment of the series and this was a really good dramatization of the fall of the top dogs in the Columbian Cartels, now the series might continue if they take it to the next level in Mexico. Here's hoping!

Narcos offers a compelling story that is grounded in history. Though the events are, of course, dramatized, the show interjects real historic film into it to give it a more authentic feel. One of the better acted Netflix Originals. Strongly recommend to anyone who enjoys the subject matter, learning a little bit of modern history, or simply likes well acted dramas.

Fantastic series with a great cast. Also, love the fact that the actors playing the Columbians speak Spanish (with English subtitles) which adds more realism to the story. If you were a fan of the Sopranos, you'll like Narcos.

This is an excellent series and is under the radar for must watch, The two DEA agaents did very well in the series also. Currently I'm watching season two, this guy was a real S.O.B. in my opinion and killed hundreds of people, many policemen trying to make an honest living in Columbia.

You can't have someone like this in the world without a bullett having your name on it one day
I hope he had his fun on earth because I think the devil has his soul for eternity.

A docudrama about Pablo Escobar and the rise of cocaine in the USA. An engaging story that is well acted by Wagner Moura et al.

Even if you're already familiar with the broad strokes of Pablo Escobar's rise and fall, it's worth watching Narcos to experience the textures of the Colombian drug trade at its ugliest.

No one wants to read a show!!! If I want to read a damn show I will get a book!! BS subtitles that are way too fast to read the longer ones! Fairly good show but very violent! The morons that made the show could leave the subtitles on the screen longer so people have time to read them! Why don't the moron fools that make these kind of shows give people the option to read the subtitles or lessen to it in English or Spanish!! No one wants to read a show that's 8 hours long!! The morons that made the show made it in both English and Spanish with the Spanish having English subtitles that the idiots film makers didn’t leave the subtitles on the screen long enough to read them unless you are a speed reader!! The movie is on 4 disks and like 8 hours long with a total of 10 episodes with each episode approximately 50 minutes long so you better be a fast reader or you will have to rewind the show many times to read the longer subtitles! That is why I ranked this show so low!! Otherwise I would have ranked it a 4.

Chronicled the drug war between US (Reagan & GW Bush) and Colombian governments and the infamous narcos, led by Pablo Escobar who went from a small time smuggler to drug kingpin. We learned bits and pieces of the history in media now and then. It is good to have them in a single series. Bonus is that most of the film was shot in Bogotá though more of its culture outside the narcos' circle would have been nice. Critics:
8.9/10 IMDb, 84% Rotten Tomatoes, 77/100 Metacritic.
Netflix takes on the infamous Medellín drug cartel in "Narcos," which follows the rise and fall of Colombian kingpin Pablo Escobar and the Drug Enforcement Agency agents hunting him. The story is told largely from the points of view of Escobar, played by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura, and U.S. DEA Agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), on opposite sides of what would become an all-out war.

Narcos is excellent. A must watch. The only problem we had was that half is in Spanish with subtitles, so you must concentrate all the time on the movie and be a fast reader, however this added to the movie. We watched it four evenings in a row and hated that we had to stop in the middle. Don't miss this one Can't wait for season II to come out in the Fall of 2016.

Loads of quotes at wikiquote. Here is a sample:
Back then, we were just finding out about the effects of cocaine - on the human brain. We didn't know much, but we knew it was some pretty powerful shxt. Cocaine hijacks the pleasure centers in the brain. A rat will choose cocaine over food and water. It would choose cocaine over sleep, over sex over life itself. The human brain isn't quite the same as a rodent's unless we're talking about cocaine.
Well your government's research says 660 tons of cocaine were consumed in the United States last year. Perhaps if your resources were focused at home, we'd all be better off.
Escobar said, "Better a grave in Colombia than a cell in the US." Well, guess what, motherfucker? That works for me.
Look, I am not a rich person. I am a poor person with money.
