Add a CommentAn excellent resource on LGBTQ+ people from history. If you read nothing else, read the Abraham Lincoln chapter.
From people you maybe haven’t heard of, to people you maybe have heard of, but hadn’t thought of as queer: like Abraham Lincoln. This book is absolutely fascinating, and it’s an easy to read if you just want to read a quick chapter and not an entire book. Bonus points: it's available in print at LPL and digitally from Hoopla!
Queer people have been around for centuries, and they’ve been doing amazing things that have helped make the world the place it is today. If you are, think you might be, or know someone who is, or might be, queer this book is a must read. A collection of short, readable biographies from a Roman emperor to George Takei.
An engaging historical anthology of LGBTQ persons. Some of the people discussed in this book might be familiar to readers, but many more may not be. A must read for anyone, teen or adult, who wants to learn more about the queer community. The author also includes references in the back, for readers who wish to further expand their knowledge.
I highly recommend this engaging and empowering book.
Excellent, easy to read comprehensive account of 23 people who changed the world, their lives, and their society and forged a way ahead for many others. Very well written.
This is a wonderful introduction to queer history! It is very easy to read and written with a good sense of humour.
