A terrific action adventure story. I have seen the movie which was based on this book several times and finally decided to read the book. I should not have waited so long! The book is far better then movie. The details and the acuracy which the book brings to the reader's attention are very interesting. Ron Howard did a good job of making the movie but his obvious exagerations designed for surprise were unecessary. For instance, the flight doctor vs. astrountant sceen and the fast paced power-up of the command module did not happen the way the movie suggests but rather in a more understandable "every moon mission way". The personalities of all the men invovled in the actions associated with the mission were also detailed in the book. Even more interesting were the actual activites of all, the control auditorium staff, including all the staff shifts. I also enjoyed the background information concerning Lowell's career. as well as the other astrounants involved with NASA. I must read for action adventure enthusiastics as well as space adventurers!
