The plot is solid, but the author really loses me with the constant and stagnant self-reflection of the protagonist (Ellen). It's really unfortunate, because Ellen is a very likeable and real character - she plays to the beat of Average people, thankfully! While of course the story is predictable, there are some twists that make this book interesting. You get to do a little sleuth work whilst reading. However, I was greatly disappointed in the ending. Perhaps I was just reading faster to get to the point, but it seems like, all of a sudden, the pace changed and the attention to detail was lost. So was my ability to maintain the Willing Suspension of Disbelief. A little more care could have been taken to maintain credibility and believability in the plot.
