I learned so much from this book. I could never quite completely understand how an automatic transmission works but it taught me about everything else from simple machines and computer logic to CD players and nuclear reactions. Almost like a primer on physics it goes through simple machines, light and waves, mechanics and uses lots of practical real world examples. Very good for any child with a mechanical aptitude or any one who asks how something works. Hand drawn illustrations on about every page with frequent tiny Easter eggs and quips in the drawings.
